New Opportunity: Build to Print Business Segment Leader at DWFritz

Position Purpose

As the Build to Print Business Segment Leader at DWFritz you will own the performance of all aspects of DWFritz’s Build-to-Print (BTP) business segment. You will collaborate with Marketing, ETO Sales Teams, Project Teams, Engineering Teams, Supply Chain Management, Resource Planning, Quality Engineering, Materials, EHS, Finance, Facilities, Planning / Estimating, and Logistics to provide input and to ensure we have the capacity, infrastructure, processes and skills to deliver quality solutions on-time and on-budget. Along with the BTP sales leader, you will own all aspects of the sales cycle including lead generation, lead development, opportunity qualification, commercial negotiation through order placement. You will be assigning, hiring and managing resources for BTP Sales, Production Project Management, and engineering resources.

Responsibilities

  • Own overall execution of BTP business segment inclusive of business development, sales, estimating, manufacturing and delivery. Utilize best practices for all aspects of execution.
  • Deliver commercial results for BTP business segment including achievement of revenue targets and project gross margin targets.
  • Partner with Manufacturing to drive execution of BTP builds utilizing best practices for all aspects of execution.
  • Ensure an accurate status of BTP project progress is provided to project stakeholders, company leadership and external customers.
  • Provide direction, leadership and coaching to BTP business segment employees. Assess staff skills and create opportunities to develop employee skills. Conduct regular performance check-ins. Provide continual performance feedback and progressive discipline if needed.
  • Manage the BTP business segment Sales Team.
  • Manage the BTP business segment Production Project Management Team.
  • Work with Operations leadership to establish and streamline Operations BTP business processes including but not limited to procurement, material management, build, facilities, and health / safety.
  • Work with Marketing and ETO / ZeroTouch sales teams to establish synergistic marketing approaches, sales strategies, account management plans, and cross-selling approaches, within the limits of allocated resource bandwidth.
  • Create, maintain, grow, and provide periodic report outs on the BTP Sales Funnel.
  • Partner with Planning/Estimating, Project Administrators, Finance, and Resource Planning Teams to establish BTP tools and systems such as cost workbooks and resource plans. Accurately estimate and plan resources (people, floorspace, facilities), to enable appropriate staffing levels and work prioritization for BTP projects.
  • Work with Design Teams to ensure engineering resource allocation to BTP projects. Develop processes to integrate BTP engineering requirements (obsolescence, VAVE, etc) into DWF processes. Eventually develop long-term BTP engineering roles and org structure based on segment business growth.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement throughout all aspects of the BTP business segment. Drive standardization in approach and process with other DWFritz business segments.
  • Develop and manage BTP metrics to measure all aspects of BTP business segment performance. Standardize metrics to the degree possible across DWF business segments.
  • Partner with internal DWFritz stakeholders to assess and recommend new capabilities / technologies to enhance BTP performance. This includes but is not limited to in-house machining capabilities, software quoting solutions, BoM management tools, parts management (ex: obsolescence) systems.
  • Drive implementation of BTP customer-required systems and processes into DWFritz.
  • Develop and manage BTP Business Segment cost center annual expense budget and monthly forecasts.
  • Ability and willingness to travel - domestic and international.
  • Establish an approved and understood financial model that supports the Senior Team vision for the BTP business, and supplies justification for resources and floorspace.

  • Experience in Operational Excellence & Process improvement.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and time management skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Education and Experience

  • 15+ years direct operations-related & engineering-related experience expected.
  • 5+ years direct manufacturing management experience in a capital equipment, high-mix low-volume, and/or product/BTP manufacturing environment is required.
  • Experience working in a Project-Based/ETO business as well as product/platform business
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in applying metrics to improve processes is required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Production Management or equivalent experience is required.
  • Training and experience in Continuous Improvement, Lean Processes and Six Sigma.
